COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A 26-year-old central Ohio woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for administering a fatal dose of heroin to a 37-year-old man last year.
The Columbus Dispatch (http://bit.ly/UTcasg ) reports that Emily Thacker of Westerville was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter.
Authorities said Thacker injected Russell Ronske with what turned out to be a fatal dose of heroin at an apartment after a night of partying. Prosecutors said she also injected Ronske's girlfriend, who also overdosed and nearly died.
Ronske died at a hospital emergency room.
Thacker said in court that she was "sorry that everything unfolded the way it did."
Four other felony charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
