For the past 11 years photographer and business owner, Terri Slack, has been taking club and sports photos as well as senior portraits for the JGHS yearbook. Actually, it's been longer because she took sports pictures prior to that, but 11 years ago, Slack became the official school photographer for the JGHS yearbook.
"Terri is so easy to work with. She's patient with all of us, and she has a great sense of humor which helps when picture days are stressful. When we can't get candid pictures of an event, she's willing to help us. She has been a life saver," said publications adviser Mary Ann DeVolld.
Slack didn't always aspire to be a photographer. She studied Equine Science at Findlay University in hopes of becoming a vet. She found her love for photography when she started taking pictures for the university's yearbook and newspaper.
Slack then transferred to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to begin studying photography. She finished her schooling at the Colorado Institute of Art.
After finishing her schooling in Colorado, Slack opened a photography business there. She then moved back to her hometown of Cambridge, Ohio where she opened her studio Bon Ton, located in downtown Cambridge.
Slack is currently in the progress of moving her studio to the New Concord area. "This will allow me to be more select in my appointments and to specialize in my JGHS Contract, commercial work and our spring and fall ball teams, and of course, be closer to my home," explained Slack.
Slack currently makes two trips a year to JGHS to spend the day taking photos of all the school clubs and organizations. She also makes several other trips to take sports teams photos for the yearbook as well as individual pictures.
Slack really enjoys working with JGHS. "The yearbook staff is the best I have ever worked with, and the photography schedules are incredibly organized."
The yearbook staff isn't the only thing that helps things run smoothly. The faculty and staff also contribute a lot into making group picture days a success. "The coaches all cooperate, and the teachers in the music department are also very prompt," added Slack.
She also added that "JGHS is a top notch school!
