WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Cheyanne Bamfield of Cambridge and Alissa Bodner of Salesville were among 35 high school winners from throughout Ohio who visited Washington, D.C., and other points of interest June 11-17 as part of Ohio Rural Electric Cooperatives, Inc.'s Youth Tour to the nation's capital.
The week-long trip included a visit to the U.S. Capitol and other areas of historical significance. The student was awarded the tour in a scholastic competition sponsored by Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative, Inc. New Concord, a Touchstone Energy cooperative. The sophomores and juniors joined 1,500 other rural youths representing 44 states and several countries. As part of their tour of the nation's capital, students met with members of their Congressional delegation, visited Arlington National Cemetery and attended a performance at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.
Bamfield is the daughter of Rudy and Lori Bamfield, and Bodner is the daughter of Dave and Joy Bodner.
