NEW CONCORD — Sixth grade students at East Muskingum Middle School recently explored careers in a creative and fun way.
The students annually evaluate their career interests using the E-WOW (Exploring the World of Work) career assessment and then dressing up in career-related costumes. The E-WOW assessments are provided by the Career Development Department at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers and allow the students to indicate different activities that they enjoy using a color-coded system.
Once the assessment is complete, students use the tool to help them narrow down the career fields that best suit them based on their own personal interests.
At the end of the project, students are encouraged to participate in a career costume contest called E-WOW-O-Ween.
Guidance counselor Van Hoyt coordinates the event.
