NEW CONCORD — Leanne Spillman, a senior at John Glenn High School, has been awarded a $750 scholarship by the New Concord Lions Club. She will attend The Ohio State University, where she plans on studying international business with a minor in forensic accounting and Chinese.
Spillman carries a 3.96 grade point average and is active with Key Club, Art League, Ambassador Club, Business Club, Book Club, Chess Club and National Honor Society, to name a few.
She volunteers at the Norwich Presbyterian Church, packing school supplies for underprivileged children with Tools for School, as a Spanish and Guidance Aide and football concession worker. Her list of honors include National Youth Leadership on Medicine, Joyce Ivy League Foundation, People to People Student Ambassador, and MVESC Leadership.
The New Concord Lions Club is a service organization, which focuses on assisting with vision and eye care in the local area, state, nation and world. The club also uses its manpower and financial resources for service projects in the New Concord area. Past recipients of the Lions scholarships include Leah Jones, Jenna Scholl, Kendra Moll, Jenna Parrish, Luke Brooks, Jessica St. Clair, Zach Van Wey and Shelby Bradford.
