JG Company, String Sounds, and PanJGea are a few musical groups at John Glenn that several students are involved in. They do a multitude of performances throughout the year and never ceases to amaze their audience.
JG Company is an exclusive show choir directed by Minda Kaiser. She is also the director of the John Glenn symphonic choir and the Barber Shop
Quartet. JG Company sings a wide variety a songs and performs them in several places. Some of their most popular gigs would be their Denny’s Takeover which usually happens in November. Another popular gig is their annual SRO showing in May. This show provides the students an opportunity to showcase their musical talents to the community.
String Sounds is a string ensemble directed by Dawnell Graham. She is also the director of the John Glenn orchestra. String sounds plays a plethora of different songs. One of their popular shows is their annual Coffee and Desserts. In this show, students play as a whole group but can also play in smaller groups and/or solos. Throughout the year, they perform at several different places. Some of these places include The Wilds, nursing homes, and The Scottish Rite Fest in Byesville.
PanJGea is a steel drum band at John Glenn directed by John Kelsey. He is also the director of the concert band, marching band, and several other ensembles involved with the band. PanJGea also does a lot of performances throughout the school year and over the summer. Some of the places they play include Chalk On The Walk, The Muskingum County Fair, and other festivals. It is a very intriguing musical group to watch play the music they have been working so hard on.
John Glenn has an outstanding musical program. From singing, to cellos, to steel drums. Don’t miss out on all of their wonderful performances throughout the school year!
