ZANESVILLE -- The FCCLA-Early Childhood Education Chapter at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers recently hosted a Community Baby Shower.
The event targeted new and expecting mothers. Informational sessions were provided by Muskingum Health Department, Guernsey County Children Services and Muskingum County's Help Me Grow.
Mothers received information centered on Introducing solid foods, infant massage and post-partum depression.
The featured speaker was Jamie Miller of Guernsey County Children Services. She presented information regarding Shaken Baby Syndrome.
The mothers were treated to a lunch sponsored by Chipotle and Sheena's Sweets.
Every mother received a generous supply of door prizes that were donated by more than 50 sponsors from the community. The event was led by the FCCLA Chapter and its adviser, Mrs. Katie Lucas. The chapter includes high school students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Program at Mid-East Career and Technology Centers. The focus for FCCLA is preparing students to be leaders in their community and strengthening the roles of families in society.
