ZANESVILLE -- HEAP is a federally-funded program designed to help eligible low income Ohioans meet the high cost of home heating bills. Applications are available at the center. If you need help completing your applications, you can come in on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 to noon. Bring your latest heating bill, electric bill and proof of income.
The 2009-2010 HEAP income guidelines are as follows: $21,660 annual income for one person in the household. Add $7,480 for each additional person.
This is the last month to apply for HEAP.
The center will be traveling to the Columbus Clippers vs. Louisville Bats (Cincinnati Reds farm team) on Wednesday, June 2 at 11:35 a.m. They are limited to 10 seats. Sign-up now. Tickets are $10 each, including transportation. Lunch is on your own. The van will depart the center at 9:45 a.m.
Senior Superstars is back. Try-outs will be on Wednesday, April 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday, April 29 at from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must be age 55 or older to qualify and have a talent. Call Rosemary to schedule a time.
Each May is observed nationwide as Older Americans Month. They will be celebrating on Senior Citizens Day on Wednesday, May 19 with the theme of "Rock and Roll Seniors." Rick Sabine will be the disc jockey for a sock hop. Tom Hammond will be the speaker. A ticket is required. Donation may be made on May 19.
Wednesdays in April are special. On Wednesdays, when each diner registers for lunch, they will be given a ticket good for a prize drawing held on the last Wednesday of the month, April 28. Tickets will be drawn and the ticket holder will have the opportunity to pick an umbrella from the umbrella field. The umbrella will be exchanged for the corresponding prize. Ticket holders must be present to win.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are "Bring a Friend Days." Bring a friend who has not been to the center in over a year to lunch and earn a chance to win a $25 Walmart gift card each month. Winners will be pulled on Wednesday, April 28. Winner must be present to win.
Linda Edmondson, RN from the Zanesville Muskingum County General Health District, will conduct a health assessment clinic at Central Presbyterian on April 27, and Duncan Falls on April 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. Autumn Health Care will conduct a health assessment clinic at Center for Seniors on April 28 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Wayne King Band will provide the music the Friday night dance on April 30.
There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Admission is $3 per person.
