Janice FunkExecutive Assistant ZANESVILLE -- Food commodities pick-up date will be on Thursday, Feb. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. only. Pick-up must be made on this day or you will be removed from the program. If removed from the program, you will not be able to re-apply for six months. The center is planning a trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on June 6 to 9. You will attend a dinner/show of Hatfield and McCoy's, Dollywood, and Titanic Museum. Transportation will be by motor coach. For information, call Rosemary at (740) 454-9761.Tai Chi class takes place on Fridays at 10 a.m. Call the center to pre-register. The class will take place once a week. This is a 10 -week class for $1 per class. Tai Chi can relieve pain, improve physical ability and balance. There will be a free diabetic nutrition education program held at the center on Thursday, March 3 and 10 from 9 to 10 a.m. This provides information/tools to help patients make lifestyle changes for improved self-management of type 2 diabetes. AARP Tax-Aide, the largest free volunteer run tax counseling preparation service for taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older, will be offering their service this year. Free E-Filing of all returns will be provided again this year. Returns will be completed on an appointment basis only, one return per appointment. Appointments will start at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 2:30 p.m.Tax clients are to call (740) 454-9761 to schedule an appointment and are to bring 2010 tax information with them. Everyone is encouraged to schedule an appointment and take advantage of this free service. Good-N-Country Band will be providing the music for the dance on Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. Cost of the dance is $3. There will be a 50/50 drawing and door prizes. Linda Edmondson, RN from the Zanesville Muskingum County General Health District, will conduct a health assessment clinic at Singer Center on Feb. 14, Pollock Apartments on Feb. 15, and Adamsville Homemakers on Feb. 16 from 8:30 to 11 a.m.The center is a certified PASSPORT home delivered meal and transportation provider.
