New Concord UMW
“Birds, Blooms and Blessings” was the theme for the New Concord United Methodist Women’s annual mother-daughter party on May 5 in the church fellowship hall.
Sylvia Bates, president, welcomed the approximately 90 guests in attendance.
Clyta Young led prayer before the covered-dish meal. The tables were decorated with bird houses, which served as favors for each person.
Following dinner, Loreita Slack, along with her daughter-in-law, Terri Slack, led the mother-daughter tribute.
Mollie Gerlack led devotions.
The young girls choir, under the direction of Lois Wisniewski and Aubrey Erback, sang “The Butterfly Song.”
The program was “The Acts of Faith,” a musical group.
Cyndy Powers awarded several prizes to the group.
In closing, the group sang a benediction to the tune of Edelwiss.
Members of Circle of Friends and Miriam Circle served as hostesses for the evening.
Middlebourne United Methodist Church held its 31st mother-daughter banquet recently using “Cowgirl Western” as a theme.
Edith Carter, president, W.S.C.S. introduced Pastor Karen Rawlins, who gave the welcome and invocation to the 39 guests in attendance.
Luella Henderson gave a reading. Christine Molisee and Scott Rawlins performed solo’s. Faye Lyons spoke on senior moments. Aggie Timmons led a game of western trivia.
A five act western play was performed by Edith Carter, Beverly Watson, Karen Rawlins, Aggie Timmons, Cheryl Dawkins, Christine Molisee, Connie Carter and Linda Fitzgerald.
Several door prizes were awarded throughout the evening. Appreciation was extended to Watson for the AVON. Karen Rawlins and Aggie Timmons received special recognition of hanging flower baskets. Rawlins also received a birthday cake.
