ZANESVILLE -- Zane State College Human Services Assistant instructor Peg Earhart was recently recognized as a National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) award recipient. The award recognizes the best examples of teaching and leadership excellence in institutions of higher education. Medallions and certificates were presented to award winners at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, Texas.

"As a winner of this award, Peg joins some of the most gifted and dedicated college faculty in the country," said Dr. Paul Brown, president of Zane State College. "We are honored and proud that NISOD has recognized Peg for her excellence in the classroom."

Earhart, who just celebrated her 10-year anniversary at Zane State College, began her career at Children's Services. She went on to work at Genesis for over 20 years as director of the Social Services Department before entering education.

"I love teaching because it gives me a chance to make a difference in the lives of students and in the lives of all whom they touch through the human services profession," Earhart said.

Earhart's students were thrilled to hear of the award.

"Peg is not only passionate about the human services field but she avidly supports her students as well," said second-year Human Services Assistant student Kimberly Snyder. "She brings to the classroom an enormous variety of first-hand knowledge of what it is like in the Human Services field and in dealing with life issues."

Second year Human Services Assistant student Brooke Papageorge concurred.

"Peg is an amazing instructor -- she goes that extra mile to help. I can honestly say I have never in my entire years of school been so eager to learn."
