NEW CONCORD -- As winter threatened to dump more snow on the area, Mayor Greg Adams acknowledged what he perceived as exceptional service by the village street crew.
"I want to thank our crew for keeping our streets clean, with limited resources," Adams said.
"Despite an onslaught of snow, our guys have flexed their schedules, staggering the times they come in" to deal with the vagaries of inclement weather.
Volunteers also continue to play a crucial role in the safety -- and vibrancy -- of the village.
On the evening of March 27, a number of such community members will be recognized during the annual Firefighters Appreciation banquet, slated to take place at John Glenn High School.
Meanwhile, firefighters also are starting to plan for the annual Firefighters Festival.
Among other action, council:
* Changed the date of the next regular meeting from March 8 to March 15.
* Amended the zoning district map, changing designation of the property upon which sits the former Odd Fellows building from a business zone to a residential zone.
* Adopted a resolution authorizing the administrator to accept into the village a private sewer on South Liberty Street.
* Offered suggestions for goals for the coming year.
* Convened in executive session to discuss personnel matters and a possible real estate purchase.
