NEW CONCORD — Members of the   East Muskingum Board of Education met in special session Wednesday evening.

The board had two personnel issues to vote on: The resignation of Superintendent Jim Heagen and the approval of Interim Superintendent Jill Johnson.

Both items were approved unanimously.

Heagen’s resignation will take effect June 1 as he takes a job with Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.

Johnson has served as assistant superintendent for four years. She is a John Glenn graduate and has 20 years of experience in education. Johnson will serve as interim superintendent while the school board members search for a permanent replacement.
