Lions Club gives out scholarship

NEW CONCORD — Shelby Ann Bradford, a senior at John Glenn High School, has been awarded a $750 scholarship by the New Concord Lions Club. Bradford plans to attend The Ohio State University. 

 

She carries a 3.9 grade point average and is president of the John Glenn student body. She also is involved with Fellowship of Christian Students, 4-H, Leadership Guernsey, Business Club, Earth Club, choir, National Honor Society, Quiz Team, orchestra and cheerleading.

A significant achievement of Bradford’s senior year was as Student Body president and National Honor Society president helping to organize the collection of 56,577 canned goods to be distributed to families in Guernsey and Muskingum counties.

Past recipients of the Lions scholarship include Leah Jones, Jenna Scholl, Kendra Moll, Jenna Parrish, Luke Brooks, Jessica St. Clair and Zach Van Wey.

The New Concord Lions Club is a service organization, which focuses on assisting with vision and eye care in the local area, state, nation and world. The club also uses itsmanpower and financial resources for service projects in the New Concord area.
