NEW CONCORD — New Concord residents can once again look forward to enjoying the summer tradition of browsing their local farmers market on Monday evenings. The 2010 season of the New Concord Farmers Market officially opens on Monday, July 5 at 4 p.m. at the New Concord Elementary School pavilion and lawn on Main Street. The farmers market will take place every Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. during the months of July, August and September.
The market will feature an ever-changing selection of fresh, locally-grown produce and fruit, as well as a variety of baked goods, honey, trail mix and handmade gift items. The Muskingum County Master Gardeners will be on hand on opening day to answer any questions you may have about your own garden.
One aspect of the New Concord market that makes it unique among farmers markets in Ohio is that proceeds from vendor registration fees for the market are donated to the New Concord Food Pantry, to help feed those in need. The New Concord Farmers Market is sponsored by RENew (Renew the Environment of New Concord), a volunteer community organization.
For information on vendor participation, contact Kathy Frakes at (740) 819-7900.
