ZANESVILLE -- The Community Youth Foundation (CYF) is sponsoring a coat drive to benefit area nonprofit organizations before winter strikes.
This is the third year the CYF will collect coats for Eastside Community Ministry and The Salvation Army. After distributing more than 150 coats, several sweatshirts, hats, scarves and gloves for the last two years, members of the CYF decided to pursue the project again, with a committee of five students lead by Zanesville High School junior, Katie Young.
The Community Youth Foundation is requesting donations of gently used and new coats of all sizes to benefit the Salvation Army and families with children in the Eastside Community Ministry Youth Program. Cash donations can also be made by mailing them to: CYF Coat Drive, 534 Putnam Ave, Zanesville, OH 43701.
Individuals can donate coats by dropping them off at the following locations from Nov. 29 through Dec. 15.
Century National Bank, 14 S. Fifth St.; 1201 Brandywine Blvd.; 91 W Dave Longaberger Ave., Dresden; or 1 W. Main St., New Concord.
H&R Block, 2324 Brandywine Blvd.; and 3217 Maple Ave.
Muskingum County Community Foundation, 534 Putnam Ave.
The Community Youth Foundation is a component fund of the Muskingum County Community Foundation.
It exists to empower youth to make a difference in their community by providing financial and human resources to projects that benefit the youth of Muskingum County.
The group engages in a variety of activities including, community service projects, leadership development, grant making, scholarship scouts, fundraising and social activities.
