Police officer treated after parade

NEW CONCORD -- A village police officer was treated at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville Monday night after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic for the New Concord Christmas Parade.

Officer Misty Milligan was struck by a mirror on a vehicle operated by Yvonne Adair, 49, of New Concord, at the intersection of U.S. 22/40 and Rix Mills Road.

The impact reportedly knocked Milligan to the ground. She suffered non-incapacitating injuries and was transported to the hospital by New Concord EMS.

According to the Zanesville post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the officer had directed Adair to proceed eastbound on U.S. 22/40 and was struck when the vehicle drove past her location in the intersection.

No injuries were reported by Adair.

The accident remained under investigation by the highway patrol.
