Rick StillionThe New Concord LeaderNEW CONCORD -- Village resident David Phillips, 26, has been charged with felonious assault for allegedly stabbing his brother-in-law in the leg during an altercation at the assailant's residence Tuesday morning.Phillips remained incarcerated in the Muskingum County jail for the second-degree felony offense. He was also charged with a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence for an incident involving his wife prior to the stabbing.The incidents occurred at approximately 2:30 a.m.Phillips was arrested by Muskingum County sheriff's deputies at his home.The victim, whose identity was not released, was transported by ambulance to Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville with "non-life threatening" injuries.The incidents leading up to the stabbing reportedly started with a verbal altercation involving Phillips and a female, identified as his wife.During the altercation with the female, her brother reportedly arrived at the residence and following an altercation involving the two men, he was stabbed in the leg by Phillips.The male was reportedly hospitalized for treatment. No update regarding his condition was available as of press time Wednesday.Authorities declined to say why the victim was at the residence.The female was reportedly not injured during the incidents.The incidents remained under investigation by the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.rstillion@daily-jeff.com
