NEW CONCORD -- The New Concord Area Arts and Recreation District (NCAARD) and the Village of New Concord are seeking volunteers of all ages for the "Let's Pick It Up New Concord" event scheduled for Saturday, April 30.
This annual village spring cleaning is meant to beautify the village, foster community pride and teach litter prevention.
Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the New Concord Elementary School pavilion on West Main Street.
From there, they will be formed into teams and assigned various public areas for litter pick-up until 11 a.m.
The Village of New Concord will provide all protective equipment and trash bags. NCAARD will provide food and drinks for participants.
NCAARD is looking for adult team leaders to head each group as well as organizations and individuals of all ages who are interested in participating as team members.
Those interested should contact NCAARD program director Erin Stevic at 826-2293 or ncaard.org.
"Let's Pick It Up New Concord" started by Renew the Environment of New Concord (ReNEW) and this is the first year that NCAARD will be taking the lead.
"We're excited continue this important community program. The number of people who have participated in 'Let's Pick It Up New Concord' in the past testifies to the strong community spirit we have in New Concord. Getting people active and engaged in such a strongly participatory activity is right up NCAARD's alley," Stevic said.
Program leaders are asked to register by April 11.
All other volunteers should register by April 21.
