Rick StillionThe New Conocrd LeaderA London man was treated at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville for injuries sustained when the motorcycle he was driving was involved in an accident on Interstate 70 in Guernsey County.James Wendler, 36, was transported by New Concord emergency medical personnel to the hospital following the accident at 11:22 p.m. Monday.He was treated in the emergency department and later released, according to a trooper with the Cambridge post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.The driver of the second vehicle, Bhanu Peddi, 23, Ashburn, Va., was not injured during the accident near mile post 173.Peddi was reportedly reaching for a cellular telephone when the Toyota Camry he was driving drifted into the lane occupied by the motorcycle.According to Tpr. Maurice Waddell of the Cambridge post, Peddi was traveling in the left lane of I-70 and Wendler in the right lane when Peddi reached for his cellular telephone, allowing the Camry to drift into the right lane.The Toyota struck the custom "chopper" driven by Wendler in the rear, causing the driver to loose control of the motorcycle.The motorcycle reportedly overturned and slid off the side of the roadway, ejecting Wendler, who was not wearing a helmet.The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, while minor damage was reported to the Toyota.Peddi was cited by the patrol for an improper lane change, while Wendler was cited for no motorcycle endorsement on his license.The accident remained under investigation by the highway patrol.rstillion@daily-jeff.com
