Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra, Muskingum University promoting preservation performing arts in

NEW CONCORD In partnership with Muskingum University, the Southeastern Ohio Symphony Orchestra, SEOSO, announces an exciting 2011-2012 concert season Teamwork in Music. Featuring a variety of classical and popular music, exceptional guest artists and a quality childrens concert, the upcoming season has a concert that will appeal to every musical taste.

On Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3:30 p.m. at Brown Chapel on the campus of Muskingum University, Music Director and violinist Laura E. Schumann will present a Memorial Recital in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11/01 terror attacks on the United States. Dr. Laura and Friends (including the Alato Trio and Dr. David Turrill) will present a recital in remembrance including famous and beloved violin tunes such as Massenet Meditation, Cavaliera Rusticana, and more! Hear the sonorous sounds of the trumpet, and the beautiful harmonies of the piano trio. Come and be a part

of a truly memorable musical afternoon! All donations at this performance will be collected for SEOSO and the Red Cross.

Brown Chapel will also be the location for the Haydn Trumpet Concerto featuring Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Bands at Muskingum University, Dr.David Turrill. Dr. Turrill is the co-principal trumpet with SEOSO. Following this performance the orchestra will present a classical favorite Beethovens Symphony No.7. This bold musical event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m.

A holiday treat for the entire family, SEOSO will present its annual free holiday pops concert on Thursday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. at Secrest Auditorium in Zanesville. This musical gift to the entire Muskingum community has become a tradition for music lovers in area, and as always, will feature many Christmas favorites, and our favorite WHIZ host, Mr. Brian Wagner.

On Sunday, Dec. 4 at 3:30 p.m. will bring SEOSO back to Brown Chapel at Muskingum University where they will be joined by the Muskingum University Choral Society. The joyous and rhythmic musical composition of Vivaldis Gloria will be the exciting collaboration.

SEOSO will kick off the New Year on March 18, 2012, at 7 p.m. with a concert in Brown Chapel at Muskingum University, featuring orchestral classics.

SEOSO will conclude the fabulous 2011-2012 with its delightful Childrens Concert on Sunday, April 15, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. at the Pritchard Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge. Interactive childrens activities will begin at 2 p.m. with special guest horseman David Davis and his equine teammates.

The mission of SEOSO is to enhance the cultural richness of life and promote appreciation of the performing arts by providing high quality live musical experiences for the Southeastern Ohio community, and the exquisite direction of Dr. Laura E. Schumann helps to make this mission a reality.
