CROOKSVILLE A New Concord medical field professional received honors recently for her long-standing service locally to the educational system.
Gail Requardt earned the National School Board Association Recognition Award last night at Crooksville High School.
Requardt serves on not one, but two school boards: East Muskingum Local and Mid-East Career and Technology Centers.
Currently, she is president of both.
Joined Thursday evening by fellow board members and by the districts administrators, Requardt accepted the award during the spring conference of the Ohio School Board Association Southeast Region.
How distinguished is the award?
Of the nations 95,000 local school board members, the NSBA selects no more that 1 percent to receive the NSBA Recognition Award.
It is given only to school board members who demonstrate the highest commitment to public education through proven school board leadership, said the OSBA official presenting Requardt the award.
In addition to the national award, Requardt received the OSBAs Award of Achievement. This award goes to school board members who have demonstrated a commitment to leadership and training activities on their boards and in regional and statewide OSBA activities.
Requardt has served the East Muskingum Local School District as a board member for 20 years. She also is in her 10th year on the board of the Mid-East Career and Technology Centers.
Also, she serves on the Ohio School Boards Student Achievement Leadership Team, the Credentials Committee and the Regional Executive Committee.
