NEW CONCORD Daniel Vincent, a veteran law enforcement officer from Guernsey County, was recently appointed chief of the Muskingum University Police Department. Vincent retired in 2008 as (lieutenant) deputy sheriff after a 27-year career with the Guernsey County Sheriffs Office. Later that year, he joined the Muskingum University Police Department.

Muskingum is pleased that Dan Vincent has taken on the job of chief of police at Muskingum. He brings a valuable wealth of experience to the Muskingum force, said Janet Heeter-Bass, vice-president for student affairs and dean of students.

Vincents career is highlighted with a number of special awards including a departmental citation from the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association, a departmental citation for outstanding service in the completion of a murder investigation and numerous awards for exemplary supervision.

Chief Vincent is a graduate of Meadowbrook High School and of the Ohio Peace Officers Training Program at Zane State College.
