Fire levels barn near Cumberland

CUMBERLAND A barn located on a Garvin School Road property outside Cumberland was destroyed by fire late Tuesday night.

Firefighters from the Cumberland, Pleasant City and Byesville volunteer departments were dispatched to the scene of the blaze after it was reported at approximately 10:50 p.m. via a 911 call to the Guernsey County Sheriffs Office.

According to reports at the sheriffs office, the barn was engulfed when the caller alerted authorities.

Firefighters arriving on scene in southern Valley Township approximately 20 minutes after the initial call was received confirmed the barn was fully involved and nearly on the ground.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not available as of press time Wednesday.

It was also not known as of press time if any livestock or equipment was inside the barn.
