ZANESVILLE The Muskingum County Community Foundation announces the results of its county-wide spring grant competition, awarding $30,000 to area organizations and projects.
Nonprofit organizations with a vision for the future of the community and a commitment to improving the quality of life were encouraged to apply for a grant from the foundations general fund. Applicants must be organizations that serve Muskingum County. The foundations areas of focus for this grant cycle were Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Education, and Economic Development.
The Muskingum Community Foundations Distribution Committee reviewed 31 applications and voted to provide funding to the following eight organizations and projects:
Eastside Community Ministry $5,000 for childrens daily programming.
Gallery G $1,500 for educating students in animation, digital photography, and multimedia.
Powerhouse $1,500 for research toward the creation of a respected drama program for southeastern Ohio students.
Scholarship Central $6,000 for the Ohio College Guide AmeriCorps member match.
Southeast Ohio Symphony Orchestra $1,500 for the Holiday Pops Concert.
Y Bridge Arts Festival $2,000 for marketing for the festival.
Zane State College $10,000 toward construction of an Advanced Science and Technology Center.
Zanesville Ohio Ceramic Arts $2,500 for promotion of contemporary ceramic event.
Applications for the 2013 grant competition will become available next February, after the foundations annual Groundhog Day celebration from which earnings are used to fund the grant competition. MCCF will make a public announcement when the grant application and guidelines become available.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation has given more than $9 million in grants to local charities since 1988.
