NEW CONCORD — Village Council, during a special meeting on Monday, approved the promotion of police Officer Mindy Peck to full-time status.
“Mindy has shown that her abilities as a police officer are beneficial to the village,” Police Chief Trevor Hayes said.
“She has met all of my expectations and is doing a fantastic job for us.”
Prior to last evening, the police department had three full-time officers. With Peck’s advancement, the full-time force returned to its former size and will be able to patrol the village around the clock all week long, Hayes said.
It also will enable the village to save money because there will be less need for overtime work, Hayes said.
In another police matter, council approved the purchase for $28,490 of a 2014 Ford Police Interceptor as a new cruiser for the department. The vehicle is all-wheel drive.
