TIFFIN Muskingum University was led by the trio of seniors Mike Frasure and Brian Barnhart and freshman Tre Martin at the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestling Championships on Saturday at Heidelberg University.
Frasure secured a pair of wins to place fourth in the 157-pound weight class, after opening the tournament with a hard-fought 6-4 overtime decision against Ian Gillespie of Heidelberg University. Frasures second win was a 6-0 decision against Alexander Cahill of Baldwin-Wallace College.
Barnhart opened the OAC championships with a 2-0 decision against Alex Barker of John Carroll University, and then Barnhart registered his second victory in a 3-0 decision against Pete Meadows of Baldwin-Wallace. Barnhart finished fourth in the heavyweight class.
Martin grabbed a third place finish in the 184-pound weight class, topping Dennis Recknagel of Ohio Northern University in his opening bout, 2-0. Martin then was awarded a pair of forfeits against Tyler Blaine of Baldwin-Wallace and Recknagel to finish the day.
Overall, Muskingum ended the championships in fifth place in the six-team field.
