As any other team, the John Glenn girls softball team has their goals set for this upcoming season, whether it be winning the MVL title or playing a strong non-league schedule to prepare them for tournaments. Either way, the Muskies are anxious for the season.
The girls arent the only ones with their stomach in knots. Head coach Randy Larrick shares some insight on how hes feeling about this season. This season will be a challenge. We lost eight seniors from last years team, said Larrick. Coach Cowgill and I are trying to find the best replacements for the lost seniors. This is the fun part of coaching, seeing which young ladies will step up.
The Muskies have been working hard in the off-season by conditioning all winter long and getting some hits in the batting cages. Junior Hunter Baker shares how she has been getting ready in her off-season. I have been getting in the batting cages a lot. Ive also been attending the conditionings Big Coach has been holding for the team as well, said Baker.
To every team, there are always strengths and weaknesses. For the Muskies, the key to their strength will be their three returning starters, senior Erin Shade and juniors Lauren Dolick and Teresa Kuhns. The young ladies returning from last year are excellent leaders. We have three returning starters that were big contributors last year, said Larrick.
Like any other team, the Muskies will come to difficult challenges in their path to victory. I think the most difficult things we will face this year will be facing come good teams and having good competition, said senior Hayley Starcher.
The Muskies will get their first game swing in the tank on March 28.
