After finishing their season as District Runner-Up, the boys basketball team has many players worthy of putting in the spotlight. This week, its senior Cody Lake.

Lake has no problem keeping busy. Along with sports, the senior participates in FFA/4H, National Honor Society, and area fairs.

I usually spend all summer either practicing sports or preparing for the fair, said Lake.

As his high school sports career comes to an end, this upcoming summer will be Lakes first in which he only has to focus on the fair. Lake attends both the Muskingum County and Ohio State Fairs.

I show pretty much everything, said Lake, like steer, sheep, dairy, and hog.

When it comes to school class rank, Lake sits in the top ten of the senior class, his course work including both AP English and Calculus. He stays involved with the National Honor Society activities and keeps up the grades and drive it takes to play the sports he loves.

These sports take up most of Lakes time in his busy schedule. The senior competes in football in the fall and basketball in the winter, where he was named a team captain for both his senior year.

I also made first team MVL in football, said Lake, so Im pretty proud of that.

With the pressure on, Lakes family keeps him motivated.

Im very competitive, said Lake. I always want to beat my older brother, Christopher.

The impacts family and friends have had on this senior are lifelong. He knows he couldnt be where he is today without them.

I do everything with my brothers since there are five of them, said Lake, and we have no sisters.

Juggling two hard-hitting sports, school, including two AP classes, and involvement in FFA, senior Lake stays on top of his game, both on and off the court.
