As of Wednesday, March 7, the JGHS boys basketball team was awarded District Runner-Up with a tough loss of 38-36 to New Philidelphia at Zanesville High School. This is a huge accomplishment, and its no doubt these boys will go down in history, agreed many fans.

The game was one for the record books. The boys seemed to play their best, and displayed what they could really do. All season they worked their way up to the big game but just couldnt seem to come out with a win.

The boys pulled off an undefeated MVL season, only suffering from three season losses, and one of those was a nail biting overtime game against Dover. The tournaments are a single elimination, so when the boys underwent the loss to New Philly that was the seasons wrap-up.

The boys always kept their sense of confidence, even if they were losing. I never even had a thought that we were going to lose, said senior Heath Dodson. No matter what, the team always tried to keep their heads up.

Even though the Muskies endured a hard loss, Coach Greg Woodard is still very honored to be part of these boys lives. I am very proud of what they have accomplished, said Woodard, but you always want to win just one more.

It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be blessed with the title of Sectional Champions and District Runner-Up. The boys seemed indestructible by the way they looked at practice. We worked hard at practice everyday, said sophomore Blake Atkins, and we always listened to coach.

This season the teams record was 20-4. Many people would have to agree that this is a fantastic record, and this group of young athletes should be very proud of themselves.

The loss of 38-36 to New Philidelphia was a tough one; the boys have no reason to do anything but hold their heads high and be proud of their season. Even though I wish we would have won, said Atkins, it was still a season that Ill never forget.
