BEXLEY — Capital University announced that senior Garrett Bennington has been selected to play in the 2012 Ohio National Guard Senior Bowl III game.
The selections were made from outstanding football players in NCAA Divisions I-A, II and III and Bennington was selected to punt and kick for the South squad in this year’s game.
This year’s Senior Bowl III game will be played at the Columbus Crew Stadium on Saturday, April 14, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m. The game will be televised on Sports Time Ohio (STO) as well as on the Ohio CollegeFootball. com website.
Bennington, a 2008 graduate of John Glenn, will graduate from Capital in May with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
He was a four-year varsity letterman for the Crusaders’ football team where he began as a placekicker and later moved to running back during his junior and senior seasons. He was selected as a captain for the Crusaders his final two years based on his leadership abilities and dedication to the University both on and off the field.
His future plans are to work in an area hospital and continue his education, pursuing a Masters degree in nursing.
