Most people have heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers.” This rhyme was originally a short poem that was typically taught as children. With the past week full of rain and dark days as well as the forecast for the next couple days, the saying seems very believable.
Most people enjoy the beauty that flowers bring. The bright colors and perfume blossoming flowers bring creates a joyful sense throughout the days as well as a greater appreciation for nature. As we enjoy the breathtaking gardens and sunny days, we seem to forget what it took to get to this point.
April brings showers which create gloomy days. Grey clouds cover the skies, as well as the sun. Rain pours outside of your window as we wait for light to break. These showers create mud, dirt, puddles and kills the joy in people. Waking up to rainy days is one of the greatest feelings but not if it is the fourteenth day straight.
This poem may be short and appear to have no greater purpose, but was made to serve as a reminder. Even the most unpleasant things can bring enjoyable things. The poem is a lesson of patience that still remains valid today. Life’s greatest treasures come to those who wait, in this case if you endure April’s clouds patiently, the sights and smells of May will be a well deserved treat.
If you are having a hard time making it through the rainy month of April, just remember what all this unpleasant gloominess brings. Remember the aroma brought by spring. Remember the pleasant chirping of the birds. Remember the warm sunny days that bring a slight tinge of pink to your cheeks. Try to have patience and look for the start of blooming flowers and sunnier days.
