Every year the village of New Concord hosts a Christmas parade and a tree lighting ceremony. The parade has many floats representing a variety of organizations, clubs, and sports teams.
In fact, The John Glenn High School cheer and dance team was featured at this years parade. Josh Hartman is an active member of the varsity cheer team and was apart of the parade.
Hartman said “I enjoyed seeing how happy the kids got when we threw candy out to them.”
New Concord also holds a tree lighting ceremony right next to the library and elementary school. This annual tree lighting ceremony has been put on for years now and there is always a great turn out. The community members enjoy coming together and cherishing the special moment.
Although, these past couple of years have been really hard for this community the members still find a way to come together and help anybody in need- That is what is so special about small town New Concord. The parade and ceremony doesn't just kick off the holiday season, it brings community members closer together each year.
