JG's Merry, Fraunfelter gain first team all-MVL

While league co-champions Sheridan and Philo had the most selections on the first team, John Glenn High was well-represented on the all-Muskingum Valley League baseball team for 2009.

John Glenn's Justin Merry earned a unanimous first team selection and was joined on the first team by Nick Fraunfelter. Muskie teammates Patrick Piecynski and Brendan Shanahan tabbed to the second unit and Charlie Karling earning honorable mention accolades.

Crooksville's Aaroni Adams earned "Player of the Year" recognition while Sheridan's Doug Fisher and Philo's Russty Miller shared "Coach of the Year" honors.

Joining Crooksville's Adams and John Glenn's Merry and Fraunfelter on the first team are Bobby Denny, Garrett McLaughlin and Robert Spillman of Sheridan; Todd Williams, Christian Daley and Josh Moore of Philo; Jordan Ayres and Jordan Sharrer of Tri-Valley; Adam Fondale, Adam Folk and Kevin Wolfe of New Lexington.

In addition to Piecynski and Shanahan of John Glenn, the second team includes Jacob Horsley and Ethan LaRue of Sheridan; Trevor Ehrnfield and Jon Bonnettt of Philo; Eli Martin, Drew Sharrer and T.J. Nichols of Tri-Valley; Austin Brock and Marcus Schluessler of West Muskingum; Landon Shaw of Morgan; Jordan Morozowsky of Maysville and Drew Brown of New Lexington.

Gaining honorable mention in addition to JG's Karling are Treg Ulmer, Gage Lotozo and Caleb Horsley of Sheridan; R.J. Starkey, Brett Wycinski and Spencer Huffman of New Lexington; Carder Payton and Nate Allen of Crooksville; Dakota Gutrige and Willie Lenhart of West Muskingum; and Zach Trout of Philo.
