West All-Stars win Eastern District tilt

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The West defeated the East, 8-6, in the annual Eastern District Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School on Tuesday.

John Glenn High's Justin Merry was the winning pitcher for the West, giving up one run on a home run by Brody Call of St. Clairsville (the East MVP) in two innings of work.

Jake Albaugh of Claymont earned MVP honors for the West with a three-run home run and an RBI single.

Also participating from the local area were Nick Yakubik of Meadowbrook; Seth Jones of Buckeye Trail; J.R. Lovette of Shenandoah; Bobby Schehl and Aaron Clark of Caldwell; Colby MacMillan and Zane Wilson of Barnesville.
