NEW CONCORD --The John and Annie Glenn Museum Foundation Board of Trustees is finalizing an agreement with the Ohio Historical Society to operate the National Road/Zane Grey Museum near Norwich. The foundation, which also operates the John & Annie Glenn Historic Site, is seeking volunteers to help with guided tours of the museum. "Our experience in operating the Historic Site for the past seven years has shown that visitors really appreciate the personalized attention they get with a guided tour and they learn so much more," said Historic Site Director Debbie Allender, "so we would like to do the same at the National Road/Zane Grey Museum." The foundation is inviting persons interested in the role of the National Road in American History, in antique cars, in the literary contributions of western author Zane Grey and/or Zanesville Art Pottery to participate. Volunteer shifts can be weekly, bi-weekly or monthly, Wednesday through Saturday (from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 to 4 p.m.) or Sundays (1 to 4 p.m.). Guides will also be needed for scheduled group tours at other times. On-site volunteer training will be provided. Enthusiastic volunteers will greatly contribute to the continual operation and success of the museum. "We have been very fortunate to have our dedicated group of volunteers at the Historic Site and we're hoping to have the same for this facility. The National Road/Zane Grey Museum is another fine museum and we're hoping community members will help us keep it open," said Allender. For information or to register to volunteer, call 826-3305.
