LISBON -- Fred R. Jennings, 80, of Lisbon, died Monday (Oct. 26, 2009) at Salem Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1929, in New Concord, son of the late Raymond C. and Lucille (Yoho) Jennings. Mr. Jennings grew up in New Concord and worked as a deputy sheriff in Guernsey County at one time. He drove truck for many years, including driving for Greyhound Bus. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was an equipment operator. A veteran of the Marine Corps, Fred enjoyed his life and his family. He had his private pilot's license and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson. Survivors include his wife, the former Wanda J. Lewis, whom he married Dec. 28, 1959; two sons, Sam (Sherry) Jennings of Salem and Scott (Tina) Jennings of Lisbon; six daughters, Teresa Kegelmyer of Leetonia, Kim (Dan) Reash of East Palestine, Betsy (Stan) Taylor of New Concord, Peggy (Roger) Blackburn of Washington Courthouse, Vickie (Don) Lyons, and Sandy (Dick) Snyder both of Cambridge; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Oct. 30, 2009, at the Weber Funeral Home, Lisbon. The Rev. Herbert DeLong officiated. Burial was in Lisbon Cemetery. View this obituary and leave condolences at www.weberfh.com.
