Emily Harkins, a 2008 graduate of Muskingum University, was one of 25 women competing for romance on ABC's hit series, "The Bachelor."

The season premier was last night at 8.

Harkins was one of the 10 contestants eliminated from the show in the first episode of the season. The 15 surviving contestants will continue on the show, each hoping to avoid being the next to be eliminated in each week's show.

Harkins earned her bachelor's degree from Muskingum, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the dance team.

Harkins, a 2004 graduate of Lakota East High School in West Chester, Ohio, near Cincinnati, lives in Columbus where she works as a "fit model" for Abercrombie & Fitch and as a dancer/cheerleader for the Columbus Crew.

Contestants on the program are not permitted to talk about the show with the press, or with anyone else for that matter, until after the season ends.

The program, in which a single man chooses from among a bevy of pulchritudinous beauties as a prospect for love and possible marriage, is a modern day version of the nursery rhyme, The Farmer in the Dell, and airs at 8 p.m. Mondays on ABC.
