ELLICOTT CITY, Md. -- Jacob Russell Morrison, 94, died May 28, 2009 at Shangri La Assisted Living, Ellicott City, Md., where he had been a resident since 2006.
Mr. Morrison was a long-time resident of New Concord and Zanesville.
He was born Dec. 12, 1914, in New Brighton, Pa., and grew up in Norwich.
He attended West Union School and New Concord High School graduating from Muskingum College in 1936.
He preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Barclay Morrison, whom he married in 1941; daughter, Karen Leigh Morrison; parents, Jacob S. Morrison and Hallie Sullivan Morrison; and sister, Ruth Morrison Wilson.
Mr. Morrison was a World War II veteran, stationed in England, France and the Philippines.
He taught high school mathematics for 38 years at New Concord High School and Zanesville High School.
He was a member of College Drive United Presbyterian Church, New Concord.
He leaves daughters, Karol Buie (Bill) of Frederick, Md., Susan Gabriel of Baltimore, Md., and Terry Ruygrok (Lex) of Ellicott City, Md.; grandchildren, Brent Stansbury of Akron, Michelle Stansbury Chandler and Shannon Stansbury Dillon of Richmond, Va., Amy Gabriel Chapman of Glen Carbon, Ill., Marc Gabriel of Chicago, Ill., and Brian Ruygrok, Dylan Ruygrok and Kyle Ruygrok, all of Ellicott City, Md.; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Julius Morrison of Hebron.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 11 at 2 p.m. at the College Drive United Presbyterian Church, 2 W. High St., New Concord.
