Ruby E. Blackstone

NEW CONCORD -- Ruby E. Blackstone, 81, of New Concord, died at 9:24 a.m. Monday (Feb. 1, 2010) at Willow Haven Nursing Home, Zanesville.

She was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Cumberland, daughter of the late C. Hicel and Helen Faye Allen Bates.

Mrs. Blackstone was a member of New Concord Church of Christ and was a retired employee of National Cash Register, Cambridge.

Her husband Richard L. Blackstone, whom she married June 20, 1948, died Dec. 20, 1979. Also deceased are a sister, Ruth Boyd; and a brother, William Bates.

She is survived by her son, David (Debbie) Blackstone, Zanesville; brother, Robert (Lavaughn) Bates, Cumberland; a granddaughter, Julie (Mike) Wisecarver; a great-grandson, Michael Wisecarver; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Wisecarver.

Funeral services were Feb. 4 at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main St., New Concord. Pastor Richard Harris officiated.

Burial was in New Concord Cemetery.
