Dorothy McCoy Johnson Knight

 

NEW CONCORD — Dorothy McCoy Johnson Knight, 94, of New Concord, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at her home.

She was born Sept. 28, 1915, on her parents’ farm north of Wooster, daughter of the late Clarence and Nellie Cochran Johnson. 

In 1937, shortly after her graduation from the College of Wooster, she married her college sweetheart, Lyman Coleman Knight Jr. She received her master’s degree from Kent State University in 1941. In 1942, she moved to New Concord and with her husband, taught mathematics at Muskingum College for the next 41 years. After retirement, she continued teaching by tutoring students. She was a member of College Drive Presbyterian Church in New Concord.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Lyman Coleman Knight Jr., and brothers, Byron Johnson and Robert Johnson.

She leaves three children, Judith McCoy Knight, Lyman Coleman Knight III and Amy (Robert) Goffee; and two grandchildren, Roger Alan Goffee and Nicholas Coleman Goffee.

Services were held in Wooster Cemetery. 

A memorial service is planned at a later date. Mock-Miller Funeral Home, New Concord, is entrusted with services.
