NEW CONCORD — Glenn P. Addy, 74, of Norwich, passed away Thursday (Jan. 27, 2011) at Genesis Morrison House, following an extended illness.
Glenn married his childhood sweetheart, Arlene. He was a loving husband, father, and a very special “Papaw” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During his life, Glenn enjoyed attending ball games, racing horses and spending time with his family. Although, we will all miss him dearly, we know he is now with God and the love of his life.
He was born July 19, 1936, in Norwich, the son of the late Preston and Audrey Harbin Addy. He was an optician for White-Haines Optical for 31 years and retired as owner/operator of Triple A Optical, both of Zanesville. He was a member of the Norwich United Methodist Church, the United States Trotting Association and the Ohio Harness Horseman’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Arlene Addy, on June 13, 2005; one sister, June Eloise Vernon; and four brothers, Karl Smith Addy, Russell Duane Addy, Delbert Ray Addy and Kent LeRoy Addy.
He is survived by two sons, Jay Addy and fiancée Judy of New Concord and Jeff (Judy) Addy of Norwich; two sisters, Barbara Vivian Addy of Zanesville and Marilyn Kay (Gary) Adams of Zanesville; three grandchildren, Kyle (Nicol) Addy, Jeremy (Kate) Addy and Jamison Addy; and two great-grandchildren, Preston and Norah Addy.
Funeral services were Jan. 31 at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main St., New Concord, with Pastor James Sands and Pastor Jim Lee officiating. Burial was in the Norwich United Presbyterian Cemetery.
