NEW CONCORD — Lynn E. (Sauer) Blood, 52, of New Concord, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 29, 2011. Her faith in Christ never faltered, and her joy and peace in Him were brightly apparent throughout her 16-month battle with cancer.
She was born in Cleveland, on Nov. 28, 1958, and was the cherished daughter of Marilyn K. (Mac) (Kerr) and the late Bentley F. Sauer Jr.; the dearest sister of Kim (Jim) Hartman, Polly (Ken) Tomlinson and twin Lauri (Fred) Bucci. Beloved wife of Ken for 29 years. Lynn was the loving mother of Erin (Derrick) Rollins, Jennie, Emily (fiance Johnny Cross) and Anne (fiance, Jarrod Girod); as well as a dear daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many.
A 1977 graduate of Mayfield High School, Lynn graduated from Marietta College in 1981 with an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Drama and History, as well as elementary education certification. Her educational career included six years as a tutor in the Muskingum University PLUS Program, nine years substitute-teaching in various area school districts, and 11 years as a gifted specialist for the Tri-Valley Local Schools.
She earned her Gifted Education Licensure and Master of Arts in Education degree from Muskingum University, graduating summa cum laude in 2005. Lynn was a member of the MU chapter of Kappa Delta Pi Education Honorary, the Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honorary, the Ohio Association for Gifted Children and a life-time member of Girl Scouts USA. A member of Friendship Baptist Church for 28 years, Lynn sang in the FBC praise team for many years, and taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed singing, acting, walking, baking, being with her family and working in her garden.
The family received friends to pay tribute to and celebrate Lynn's life at Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 West Main St., New Concord, Jan. 31.
Relatives and friends were invited to gather for Lynn's memorial service Feb. 2 at New Concord United Methodist Church, 20 E. High St., New Concord.
