NEW CONCORD — Walter C. “Butch” Gibson Jr, 67, of Chandlersville, died at 7:05 a.m. on Monday (March 28, 2011, at home with his family by his side, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Zanesville, to the late Walter C. and Eleanor Gibson.
Mr. Gibson graduated from New Concord High School in 1961. He worked at Ohio Ferro Alloys for 24 years, and was retired from Globe Metalurgical in Beverly. He was a member of Maranatha Bible Church. He enjoyed hunting, golf and train collecting.
He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Pearl (McAdam) Gibson, who he married in 1963; daughters, Becky (Jeff) Lucas of Zanesville and Beth (Brad) Hindel of Nashport; grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua and Daniel Lucas, and Kaitlin and Chloe Fountain; stepgranchildren Brandy (Josh) Daniels and Vanessa Hindel; stepgreat-granddaughter, Katie Daniels; brother, Chet (Karen) Gibson of Westerville; sister, Linda (Jeff) Gannon of Chandlersville; mother-in-law, Glenna Watson of Zanesville; sisters-in-law Helen (Forest) Rose of Newark, Liz (Bill) Hartfield of Cambridge, Margie (Robert) Wilfong of New Concord, Dorothy (Neil) Shinn of Nashport and Peggy (Mark) Hamble of Zanesville; brother-in-law Rick McAdam of Zanesville; cousin, Joann (Dean)Vandegriff-Smith of Naples, Fla.; several neices and nephews; and his best buddy, Indy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by his father-in-law, Frank McAdam; and stepfather-in-law, Robert Watson.
Funeral services were April 1 at the Maranatha Bible Church, 2400 Chandlersville Road, Zanesville, with Pator Dale McCallister officiating.
The Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 W. Main St., New Concord, was in charge of arrangements.
