Mildred "Irene" Kornokovich

BYESVILLE — Mildred “Irene” Kornokovich, 82, of New Concord, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Monday (June 6, 2011) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Bluebell, daughter of the late Willard and Amanda (Abrams) Weaver.

Mrs. Kornokovich retired from Meridian Plastics, and had also worked at RCA. She was a homemaker and attended Southern Hills Baptist Fellowship, attended Pleasant City High School, and was a member of Rebekah and Grange Lodges.  

She loved country music, traveling (she had visited all states and capitals), Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cooking and going to church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Kornokovich, in 2005; two infant grandchildren; four sisters, ClaraBelle Weaver, Wilma Penn, Bernice Lemmon and Evelyn Williams; two brothers, Edward and Ellis Weaver.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Yvonne) Kornokovich of New Concord and Joe (Sylvia) Kornokovich of Cambridge; two daughters, Betty (Bob) Mackley of Cambridge and Mary Ann (Jim) Church of Cumberland; a brother, Eugene (Janice) Weaver of Byesville; 10 grandchildren, Brenda (Karl) Bailey, Robert (Judy) Mackley, Rebecca (John) Roe, Jim (Cindy) Church, John (Rhonda) Church, Jeff (Mary) Church, Tammy (Tom) DeMattio, Maggie (Jim) Ault, Jimmy (Jamie) Kornokovich and Joe (Amy) Kornokovich Jr.; 21 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

Services were June 10 at the Southern Hills Baptist Fellowship with Pastor Kirk Gable officiating.

Burial was in Guernsey Memory Gardens.
