PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Jane (Castor) Hosey, 89, formerly of New Concord, Ohio, died Friday (March 2, 2012) in Pittsburgh.
Beloved wife of the late James T. Hosey; mother of Thomas (Linda Raab) Hosey, of Pennsylvania, Nancy J. Hosey, of North Carolina, and the late James W. Hosey; sister of Anna Margaret (John) Glenn of Ohio; grandmother of Ian (Amy) Hosey and Matthew (Lizz) Hosey; great-grandmother of Landon, Charlotte, Alexa and Faith.
Mrs. Hosey was a graduate of Muskingum College and taught school before marrying her husband of 66 years. They travelled the four corners of the North America with their Airstream trailer group upon retirement, sparked by a shared curiosity of all things natural, cultural and historical.
She was a member of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh starting in the early 1960s finally retiring in 2004 with 42 continuous years of contributions to that world-famous choir’s alto section.
Through her entire life, she was an active and generous supporter of conservation programs including Beechwood Farms of O’Hara Township, the Audubon Society and the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation.
Funeral services were March 7, 2012, at the Memorial Park Presbyterian Church, 8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park. The Simons Funeral Home Inc., 7720 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, Pa., was in charge of arrangements.
