WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Concerned about a proposed job reduction at the Zanesville postal sorting facility and closures of other rural post offices, Congressman Zack Space (OH-18) urged a moratorium on such moves during this difficult economic time. Space appealed directly to the Postmaster General in a letter recently issued.
"With our region suffering through massive job losses, now is not the time to threaten local jobs," Space said. "Some of the counties in my district have well over 15 percent unemployment and we cannot afford to lose any more jobs."
"For many small towns, the post office provides a real sense of community that would be detrimental to lose. To preserve jobs and convenience for the residents of the 18th Congressional District, I feel it is important to protect our post offices," Space said.
