Muskingum College football team names captains

Published:

NEW CONCORD-- Muskingum College Football head coach Al Logan has announced that current juniors O.J. Diomedi and Steve Emmert were named captains for the 2009 season.

Diomedi, who will serve as defensive captain, is a 5-11, 175-pound defensive back, from St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was second on the team last year in tackles with 63 and logged .5 tackles for loss, two pass break-ups and one fumble recovery for 36 yards.

Emmert, who will serve as offensive captain, is a 6-4, 282-pound offensive lineman, from Somerset, Ohio. An All-OAC selection last season, Emmert anchored the offensive line for the Muskies which paved the way for their spread-option attack. The line helped Muskingum rush for 15 touchdowns last season, and allowed quarterback Jack Burns to set Muskingum records for total passing yards (career), passing attempts (season), passing completions (season), and passing touchdowns (season).

Muskingum opens the 2009 season on the road against Defiance College on Saturday, September 5, at 1:30 p.m.
