BYESVILLE -- The final tickets to next weekend's state track meet were punched in Division II on Saturday at Meadowbrook High.
River View took the overall title with a score of 56.5, followed by Dover with 50.5, Circleville with 43, Piketon with 42, Meadowbrook with 37 and Cambridge with 30. Barnesville was 25th with nine point, while John Glenn finished 30th with seven points.
John Glenn freshman Zach Geiger just missed qualifying in the 3200 meters, placing fifth with a time of 9:57.61.
"Zach's mom is his distance coach and she did a great job of convincing him he could run with the front pack," John Glenn coach Doug Joy said. "We pulled him out of the 1600 because we wanted to give him the best chance possible to move on and I feel we did that. Zach topped his personal best by 20 seconds today. To come out as a freshman and do that in a big meet is pretty impressive."
Haven Holdcroft took sixth in the long jump on Thursday for the Muskies with a distance of 20-03.
