COLUMBUS --The Muskingum University womens' basketball team sputtered in the second half as they dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at Ohio Northern Wednesday, 63-47. After hanging with the Ohio Northern Lady Polar Bears (13-7, 8-5 OAC) for the first half, Muskingum (7-13, 2-11 OAC) struggled to keep up in the second half. Behind just 34-31 at the half, Muskingum watched as Ohio Northern outscored them 29-16 in the final period to take the win. Leading the Muskies was Hannah Nelson (Buckeye Trail) with 17 points. Freshman Sydney Lapp buried three triples en route to an 11-point performance; and Carissa Bosch added nine points. While not effective in the scoring column, sophomore forward Amanda Dobbins tracked down 16 rebounds and delivered three blocks for the Lady Muskies. Ohio Northern was paced by Jeanne Bockey with 13 points, while Kara Dysert added 11. The Lady Polar Bears outrebounded the visitors 40-32, with Dysert pulling down nine boards. Muskingum shot 15-of-52 (55 percent) from the field, and 6-of-8 (75 percent) from the foul line. Ohio Northern was 21-of-43 (48 percent) from the field, and 10-of-14 (71 percent) from the charity stripe. NEXT -- Muskingum will host OAC foe Otterbein on Saturday, with a 3 p.m. tip time.
